At the age of 18, Arnold Schwarzenegger won the Junior Mr. Europe contest, following that up with winning the overall Mr. Europe competition the following year. he followed that up with numerous other bodybuilding competitions, including five Mr. Universe titles and seven Mr. Olympia titles.
His film career began in with the title role of Hercules in the 1970 film Hercules in New York, which was followed by a number of other roles. But his big break came in the 1984 scifi classic - The Terminator.
A long-time Republican activist, Schwarzenegger ran for Governor of California in 2003, when the then-current Governor, Gray Davis was being recalled. Since then he’s been a controversial figure in California and American politics, but has never been afraid of the limelight.
